Team Notes: Union Competes in RPI Tournament
The following article appeared November 25 on the Union Web site.
TROY, NY -- The last time the men’s hockey team was on the
ice it skated to a 5-1 victory at Clarkson, completing the first
Union North Country sweep since the 2002-03 season. After a week
off, the Dutchmen are back in action to take on Lake Superior State
on Friday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. at the Rensselaer Thanksgiving
Tournament in Houston Field House. Depending on the outcome, the
Dutchmen will either play RPI or Bentley on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 4
p.m. or 7 p.m.
Both contests can be heard on teamline.cc and on WRUC 89.7 FM with
Matt Dubrey and Brian Unger ’93 on the call. Fans can follow
the games via live stats at sidearmstats.com/rpi/mhockey or via
video at B2tv.com.
There isn’t much history between Union and Lake Superior
State or Union and Bentley. Friday’s game will be the first
between the Dutchmen and the Lakers and if Union and the Falcons
meet, it will only be the third time. However, if Union and RPI
matchup on Saturday it will be the 73rd time since their first
outing on Feb. 26. 1904. If the Dutchmen and Engineers square off,
it guarantees that the two teams will face each other four times
during the 2009-10 regular season.
