Cook Signs Contract with Steelheads
BOISE, ID – Union standout Matt Cook has agreed on a
contract for the 2009-10 season with the Idaho Steelheads. Cook, a
native of Belle Mead, NJ, served as a co-captain of the Dutchmen
for the past two seasons and was a finalist for the 2008-09 Lowe's
Senior CLASS Award.
Cook was originally signed by the Steelheads late in the 2008-2009
season by head coach Derek Laxdal.
“We brought in (Matt) late out of college and was impressed
with what we saw,” Laxdal said of the pair. “I’m
anxious to see what (Matt) can do over a whole season as a
professional.”
Cook, 22, joined Idaho for nine games down the stretch of the
regular season. He netted his first professional goal for the
Steelheads against Phoenix on March 31. In four years at Union
College, the Belle Mead, NJ, native scored 34 goals.
