Dagenais Back to Bolster Blue Line

The Steelers have confirmed that Randy Dagenais will return to the club for a third season.

Dagenais scored 11 goals and 48 points with the Steelers in their double winning season last year and says that returning to Sheffield wasn't a hard choice "The truth of the matter is that the Steelers have never given me a reason to want to leave, so I figured, why should I? By bringing me to Sheffield, Matty gave me the biggest opportunity to succeed in hockey. I've developed a bond with this club and in the end, I simply wanted to come back

Dagenais like many other Steelers returning had the opportunity to go and play in Europe this year but decided against a move abroad "I had an amazing offer to play for Schwennigen Wild Wings in Germany, the best I've ever had. But then I thought, if this is going to be my last year playing, do I want to go somewhere where I might not be happy? In the end, I opted for the sure option rather then the money"

"When you look at the past two seasons and see all the guys Matty has retained, it says volumes about our organization. It speaks for itself! I'm psyched to get back to Sheffield and try to do it all over again! See you all in August"

Head coach David Matsos was again delighted to be bringing back such an influential player from his Championship team "Randy has show huge loyalty by returning, but he is coming back not for sentimental reasons but because he beleives we can win again. Randy has been an ever present in our three Championship wins in the past two years. You can't buy that experiance

"Randy brings so many qualities to both the ice and the dressing room and having him back there with the likes of the younger guys like Thomas and Morgan will be imperative if we are to go on and win again"
