A Conversation with Nate Leaman

By Tim Wilkin
Union head coach Nate Leaman sat down recently for a question-and-answer session with Tim Wilkin of the Times Union, as part of a series titled "Sundays with Wilkin." Following is a transcript of the conversation.
Q: Where do you think this team is right now?
A: We've gone on the road and beaten the top teams in their
buildings but, for whatever reason, we've just been inconsistent a
little bit. I love the ability of this team when we execute. We've
had a couple of games in the second half where we have gone out and
we were just a machine the way we executed. We have beaten some of
the top teams in the league but not consistently. We have continued
to be a middle-of-the pack team in the league. We have to take the
next step.
Q: How do you do that?
A: It's much easier said than done. For our program, everything
has to come together. You have to play solid offensively and
defensively and have solid goaltending and be great on the
specialty teams. We have been good in separate areas over the past
three or four years but we have not been them all together.
