Ryan Lasch has 134 career points entering his last home opener
with the Huskies. That ranks eighth on the all-time scoring list,
with a decent chance at No. 1 by the spring.
Perhaps the one person tonight at the National Hockey Center who
should be least surprised will suit up for the Union Dutchmen.
Senior center Jason Walters once joined Lasch in terrorizing junior
goalies for the Pembroke (Ontario) Lumber Kings. They played
together three years, with Walters winning Central (Ontario) Junior
Hockey League MVP honors in 2004-05, the year before Lasch did the
same.
"The year I won it, Laschie broke his wrist," said Walters, who
leads the current Union players with 76 points in 107 career games.
"I'm not sure where it came from, but he was always extremely
elusive and he's got great agility."
