Union Hosts Shots for Tots
SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College men’s ice hockey
team and their fans will team up to make the holiday season
brighter for many local children as the team hosts “Shots for
Tots at Union Hockey” on Friday, Dec. 11 starting at 6 p.m.
– prior to the 7 p.m. contest against the United States
Under-18 Team.
All toys will be donated to the U.S. Marine Corps’
“Toys for Tots” Program for distribution to
underprivileged families in the Capital Region. The Toys for Tots
collection RV will be located in the front of the rink and patrons
who bring a new, unwrapped toy will receive a complimentary ticket
to the game (one ticket per toy) and will have their picture
taken.
Two people will be randomly selected to participate in a Rapid
Fire contest, sponsored by Sondra’s Fine Jewelry during the
second intermission. The two fans will have 20 seconds to shoot 20
pucks from center ice. If 15 make it to the net, the shooter will
win $10,000. Only fans that bring a toy will be considered.
Along with members of Marines, Schenectady Mayor Brian Stratton
will be present participating in the festivities and six-year-old
Nicaya-Isabella Rios, whose father is a Marine, will sing the
national anthem.
