Blog: On the Ice with Randy Dagenais
The following blog, written by former Union standout Randy Dagenais, appeared October 8 on the Yorkshire Post Web site.
After sealing a memorable double success at the end of
the 2008-09 Elite League season, defenceman Randy Dagenais is
coming back for what he hopes will be further success with
Sheffield Steelers.
Last weekend was definitely an emotional rollercoaster. We went
from losing to Cardiff in a game I felt we deserved to win, to
claiming the 20/20 title after a long day's effort that left us all
exhausted in its aftermath.
It felt great to smile again on Sunday after having been through a
difficult few weeks! After the loss against Cardiff, we all sat in
the room staring at the ground wondering what else could go wrong,
especially after losing Reiter to injury.
We worked hard against Cardiff and we all felt we deserved the win,
so having them take it away from us late in the game was
heartbreaking. But then Cruickshank spoke up in the room and told
us to forget about that one, sometimes bounces just don't go our
way. He made a point to look forward to tomorrow and to take the
20/20 as an opportunity to right the ship, and that's exactly what
we did.
