History Hasn't Been Kind to Union

The following article appeared in the March 6 issue of the Schenectady Gazette.

Union’s ECAC Hockey tourn­ament numbers aren’t good.

The Dutchmen haven’t won a playoff series in 11 tries, and their record is 2-21. Eight of their last nine playoff games have been decided by one goal; they have played 12 one-goal games in the postseason, and won only two of them.

Naturally, the questions are being asked as to why Union has struggled so much in the postseason. But as the eighth-seeded Dutchmen prepare to host ninth-seeded Clarkson in the first round of the tournament at Messa Rink, they aren’t dwelling on what prev­iously happened.
