Bowles Returns to Snakes
The Columbus Cottonmouths announced today that former Union
forward Sam Bowles has returned to the Snakes and signed a
three-game tryout.
Bowles came to the Snakes in December 2008 and immediately had an
impact on the Snakes' offense last season, picking up points in his
first four games. From February 13 and March 20, Bowles picked up a
point in 16 consecutive games, and went on to collect 53 points in
44 regular season games. He finished third on the team in scoring,
despite playing 16 fewer games, and was named to the All-SPHL
rookie team.
Following the 2008-09 season, the Maryland native left Columbus to
further his playing career. He signed with the Missouri Mavericks
of the CHL. In six games with the Mavericks this season, Bowles had
one goal. Bowles was released from Missouri earlier this week and
will likely be in a Snakes uniform by this weekend.
"With the addition of Sammy last year, he helped solidify our team
and take our game to the next level," head coach Jerome Bechard
said. "This year, I'm excited to see what he can do throughout an
entire season. I think he can help us be one of the highest scoring
teams in the league."
