SCHENECTADY - The Union College Dutchmen hope "to make history this weekend." So said senior right winger Josh Coyle on Wednesday.

The Dutchmen, earning the first Top Four finish of their 18-year ECAC Hockey Division I history, and thus their first preliminary-round bye in the playoffs, play host to No. 5 Cornell in a best-of-three series this weekend at Messa Rink.

The Dutchmen have never won an ECAC series, never advanced in the playoffs. Their all-time record in the postseason is 2-18-0. Four times the Dutchmen have been the tournament's higher seed but left the Messa Rink Ice defeated.

"We would like to make history this weekend," Coyle said. "That's the main goal."
