Leaman Named to U.S. Junior Staff

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Union head coach Nate Leaman has been named an assistant coach of the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete at the 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2008 - Jan. 5, 2009, in Ottawa, Ontario, it was announced today by USA Hockey. Leaman will join head coach Ron Rolston, assistant coach P.K. O'Handley and goalie coach Jeff Blashill.

"I am extremely proud to once again have the opportunity to represent USA Hockey," said Leaman. "I am honored to work with Ron Rolston and his staff."  

Leaman helped guide the U.S. National Junior Team to the bronze medal at the 2007 IIHF World Junior Championship in Leksand and Mora, Sweden. He also served as an assistant coach with the U.S. National Under-18 team that captured gold at the 2005 IIHF World U-18 Championship in Plzen, Czech Republic.

Leaman just completed his fifth season at the helm of the Dutchmen hockey program and stands as the winningest coach in the school's Division I history with 72 victories. He guided Union to its best finish in ECAC Hockey play, with a first-round bye in the playoffs for the first time in program history.
