College Notebook: Union Putting Bye Week to Good Use

The following article appeared in the March 7 issue of the Schenectady Gazette.

While eight teams begin ECAC Hockey tournament first-round series tonight, the Union Dutchmen will be spending it at the movies, watching "10,000 B.C."

The Dutchmen earned the right to take in a movie, and have the weekend off, by clinching a first-round bye last Saturday. Their fourth-place finish is the highest in the program's 17-year Division I history.

For Union coach Nate Leaman, the bye couldn't have come at a better time. He watched his team struggle in a 2-1 victory over Yale last Friday, and a 2-0 loss to Brown the next night.
