Just hours before the Boston Bruins were set to take on the Ottawa Senators, General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced that the club had acquired forward Rich Peverley and defenseman Boris Valabik in a trade with the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Bruins forward Blake Wheeler and defenseman Mark Stuart.

Valabik will be assigned to Providence, while Peverley will look to make his debut in a spoked-B sweater when the team travels to Calgary for a Tuesday tilt with the Flames. He will join the current Bruins roster for practice in Boston this weekend.

“On that deal we get back a player, Rich Peverley, who is a terrific offensive player,” Chiarelli said today.  “He’s a shooter, he plays center and wing. Ironically most of the times of our viewing he’s been on the wing, he plays both.”
