Dietrich Earns Extension with EHC München

Brandon Dietrich, a former St. Lawrence standout, has received a one-year contract extension with EHC München (Germany), the team announced Sunday.

Dietrich re-signs with the squad having missed the bulk of the 2010-11 campaign due to injury. He appeared in 14 games last season, registering 10 points, including three goals. In mid-October last year in a game at Wolfsburg, Dietrich suffered a tear in the right anterior cruciate ligament, resulting in a season-ending injury.

"We have given Brandon during the preparation phase, the opportunity to prove himself," said EHC manager Christian Winkler. "He has used this opportunity to impress. After several weeks of intensive observation, we now know that Brandon has overcome his injury and is again at 100 percent."

The native of Waterloo, Ontario has spent the past three seasons with EHC München. In 2009-10, he finished second on the team in scoring with 55 points, including 18 goals in 51 regular-season games. Dietrich's 37 assists ranked second on the squad. In 12 playoff contests, the former Saints center compiled two goals and eight assists.

Prior to joining EHC München, Dietrich starred for Landshut where he led the Cannibals in scoring, racking up 27 goals and 26 assists in 50 contests.

Dietrich skated for the Saints in 1998-99 and 1999-00, amassing 35 goals and 45 assists in 75 contests. He registered 20 goals as a freshman in 1998-99, and compiled 41 points as a sophomore.

After leaving St. Lawrence, Dietrich spent four years in both the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and American Hockey League (AHL), representing five teams. His most productive offensive campaign was 2001-02 with the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL when he scored 29 goals and added 45 assists in 66 games.
