Zeiler Treks to Germany

Former St. Lawrence standout John Zeiler shall showcase his skills in Germany during the 2011-12 season having signed with the Augsburger Panther, the team announced Tuesday.

Zeiler, who will don jersey No. 21, joins former Saints teammate T.J. Trevelyan as a member of the Panther. Trevelyan signed with the Panther August 2.

A native of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, Zeiler spent the past five seasons with the Los Angeles Kings organization, appearing in 90 games with Los Angeles and 237 games with Kings' primary affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL). He totaled four career points, including one goal, with the Kings, and 89 points, including 38 goals, with Manchester.

Zeiler was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on Feb. 17, 2007. He was originally selected by Phoenix in the fifth round (132nd overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

In four seasons with St. Lawrence, Zeiler amassed 123 points in 144 collegiate contests. He tallied 40 goals. Zeiler's top offensive campaign with the Saints came in 2003-04 when he totaled 36 points, including eight goals, in 41 games.
