Bagnall Primed to Make NHL Debut with Wild

HOUSTON -- Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled former St. Lawrence defenseman Drew Bagnall from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Bagnall has posted two assists, 112 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-five rating in 72 games for Houston this season. The 6-foot-3, 222-pound defenseman is primed to make his NHL debut Friday. Bagnall, signed as a free agent by the Wild in July 2010, wears No. 42 with the Wild.

Prior to joining Houston, Bagnall spent three seasons with the Manchester Monarchs, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. He competed in 191 games, amassing three goals and 27 assists.

The Oakbank, Manitoba native, was named the 2007 ECAC Hockey Player of the Year and Best Defensive Defenseman. In four seasons at St. Lawrence, Bagnall played 140 games, scoring 19 goals and racking up 53 assists.

In earning the 2007 League Player-of-the-Year Award, Bagnall became just the ninth defenseman in League history to earn the honor and the first defenseman since 1998 to claim the award. Bagnall also was a unanimous selection to the League's first team.
