McKenna Recalled to New Jersey
With Martin Brodeur hampered by a bruised knee, the
New Jersey Devils announced today they have recalled former St.
Lawrence goaltender Mike McKenna from Albany (AHL).
This is the third recall for McKenna, who is 0-1-0 with a 3.05
goals-against average and .893 save percentage in two appearances
with New Jersey this season. The St. Louis native is 8-13-0 with a
3.84 goals-against average, .882 save percentage and one shutout in
22 appearances with Albany.
McKenna will likely back up Johan Hedberg for tonight's
meeting with Carolina. He made 24 saves in a 3-2 loss at St. Louis
on Nov. 20, and came on in relief of Hedberg with a 26-save effort
against Montreal on Dec. 2.
McKenna was Hedberg's backup for seven games in November and
December while Brodeur recovered from a right elbow injury.
