When the Rockford IceHogs were going through that painful-to-watch, early season six-game slide at home, it was only natural to think: How much leeway does new head coach Ted Dent have?
Is he the head coach type? Does he question his own
abilities? Was the organization second-guessing itself about hiring
him to replace Bill Peters, now a Detroit Red Wings assistant?
Let’s face it — coach firings happen with great
regularity in pro sports. Fortunately with newly anointed coaches,
though, they’re usually given sufficient time to prove
themselves one way or the other.
