Aeros Add McKenzie
HOUSTON -- Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced that the American Hockey League (AHL) team has added former St. Lawrence forward Mike McKenzie.
McKenzie posted 15 points (5-10=15) in 19 games with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) this season, good for second in team scoring. McKenzie split last season, his first a professional, between the Charlotte Checkers and Everblades. He notched one goal in 14 AHL games with Charlotte before being sidelined in late March due to injury and and finished second among Everblades rookies in scoring with 38 points (18-20=38) in 55 games.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Whitby, Ontario, native was named ECHL Rookie of the Month for December, 2010, after scoring nine goals and eight assists (17 points) in 14 games, including five multi-point efforts and a plus-5 rating.
McKenzie played four seasons at St. Lawrence, totaling 114 points (49-65=114) in 144 games. He served as assistant captain during his senior season and ranked first on St. Lawrence in plus/minus (plus-9), tied for first in game winning goals (5) and second in points (35).
