McKenna Excited to Get the Call

Mike McKenna has been in the NHL before. In fact, the 27-year-old goaltender played in 15 games for Tampa Bay in 2008-09.
McKenna was still excited when he got the call Tuesday that he was being called up by the Devils. With Martin Brodeur still bothered by a bruised right elbow, McKenna will dress tonight as the backup to Johan Hedberg for the Devils’ game against Buffalo.
“It’s exciting,” McKenna said. “Regardless of the opportunity, whether it’s a two-hour stint or a two-month stint or the rest of your career, this is where you want to be. Backup, starting, it doesn’t matter. This is the highest level you can be at.”
