Amerks Sign Petizian
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Rochester Americans Vice
President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the
team has signed St. Lawrence goaltender Alex Petizian to an amateur
tryout contract.
Petizian joins the Amerks on ATO after completing his senior
season at St. Lawrence University, where he compiled a 5-5-3 record
with a 3.12 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage in 13
games for the Saints. In 2008-09, the Kirkland, Quebec, native had
an outstanding junior campaign for the Saints and his 2.18 goals
against average was third in program history. Petizian started 31
games for the Saints and went 17-9-5, establishing a career high
with 40 saves. A four-time ECAC Goalie of the Week honoree,
Petizian took over the starting goaltending job his freshman
season, playing 22 straight games en route to earning Hockey All
Rookie Goalie honors and Freshman All American Honors. The
5-foot-10, 175-pound netminder was also a Second Team All League
goaltender and was the goalie on the USCHO All Rookie team.
