Big Night for Saints in Pros

CANTON, N.Y. -- April 3 was a big night for three members of St. Lawrence University's 2009-10 hockey team in the professional ranks as all three recorded pro firsts.

Defenseman Derek Keller, playing for the South Carolina Stingrays in the ECHL, scored his first professional goal in a 3-0 win over Gwinnett. Jeff Caister, Keller's defensive partner for the Saints, is also playing for South Carolina and both players have played in four games.

Mike McKenzie earned his first professional point for the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League on Saturday night with the lone assist on the Rats' second goal in a 4-2 win over Adirondack and goaltender Kain Tisi earned his first professional win, stopping 42 of 46 shots in a 8-4 win by Reading over Treton in a ECHL game.

Tisi, Caister, and Keller are all on the post-season playoff rosters for their respective ECHL teams. Also on ECHL playoff rosters are Brock McBride for Alaska and Mike Madill for Las Vegas. Kevin DeVergilio, who is currently playing for Texas in the AHL, is on the reserve roster for Idaho for the ECHL playoffs and Jared Ross, currently playing with the Providence Bruins, on is the reserve roster for Reading.

Alaska has already started its playoff series while the rest of the ECHL will begin playoffs next week.
