Portland Nets Petizian
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced today that they have signed former St. Lawrence goaltender Alex Petizian to a Pro Try-Out Agreement.
Prior to signing with the Pirates, Petizian was with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL where he served as the third goaltender. He had not yet appeared in a game this season.
The 23 year-old from Kirkland, Quebec attended the Pirates Training Camp. He played half of the Pirates lone pre-season game against Manchester on October 5 without allowing a goal in 30:25 of action.
Petizian went 45-29-10 in four years at St. Lawrence. He has played in one American Hockey League game, stopping 26 of 30 shots in his professional debut for the Rochester Americans on April 10 in a 5-2 loss to Syracuse. He finished with the third-best GAA in St. Lawrence history (2.18) and the sixth-best save percentage (.927).
