Cyclones Agree to Terms with Fensel
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate
of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators,
announced this morning they have agreed to terms with rookie
defenseman Shawn Fensel.
Fensel, 22, closed out his collegiate career at St. Lawrence last
season, appearing in 36 games and netting four goals and 16 assists
for 20 points. He was whistled for just eleven penalties through
the campaign as the Saints went 21-12-5 during the year.
The five-foot-nine, 200 pound native of Nepean, ON, played four
seasons at St. Lawrence—serving the last two years as
assistant captain. Fensel played in 147 games and had 14 goals and
45 assists for 59 points and 74 penalty minutes. During his
collegiate career, Shawn played with former Cyclone Kyle Rank.
“We are looking forward to having Shawn Fensel in
camp,” Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "Adding a player
of this caliber is only going to make training camp that much more
competitive for everyone.”
