Wichita Acquires Zbriger
WICHITA, KS -- The Wichita Thunder acquired former St. Lawrence
forward Mike Zbriger and future considerations from the Corpus
Christi IceRays today in exchange for center Chris Greene.
A Montreal native, Zbriger (pronounced zuh-BRIG-er) was fourth on
the IceRays with 29 points, having scored 13 goals and 16 assists
in 36 games played.
Zbriger is in his third year of professional hockey, having
started his career in 2006-07 in the former UHL. While splitting
time with Chicago, Flint, and Bloomington that year, he amassed 57
points in 77 games. Last season, Zbriger played overseas in
Germany, scoring 30 goals and 34 assists in 52 games for the Weiden
Blue Devils.
Prior to turning pro, he played collegiate hockey at St. Lawrence
University from 2002-2006, and was a teammate of Thunder forward
Jordan Hack during his junior and senior seasons. Zbriger scored a
hat trick and notched five points for Corpus Christi on opening
night this season against Tulsa and picked up a goal and assist in
Corpus' 5-2 victory last night at Rapid City.
