DeVergilio Headed to Idaho
BOISE, Idaho -- Idaho Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal
announced Monday afternoon that former St. Lawrence forward Kevin
DeVergilio has been assigned to Idaho by the Texas Stars.
Texas is Idaho's American Hockey League affiliate. The two
franchises are the primary development affiliates of the NHL's
Dallas Stars.
DeVergilio has skated in eight games with the AHL club, tallying
one assist and 12 penalty minutes. The 23-year-old centerman made
his professional debut last spring with the ECHL's Las Vegas
Wranglers, scoring two goals and adding two assists in just two
games. Prior to his professional debut, he averaged nearly a point
per game for Saint Lawrence University (31 points in 34 games)
during the 2008-2009 season. The Michigan native finished his
four-year college career with 42 goals.
DeVergilio will meet the team in West Valley City, UT, in time for
games on Wednesday and Friday against the Utah Grizzlies.
