When Brock McBride looks back on his collegiate hockey career at St. Lawrence University, he may look at a midseason meeting with head coach Joe Marsh as the turning point.
It was just before Christmas break when McBride, the Saints' junior forward, met with Marsh. The coach's message was staccato and to the point. Despite not being one of the team's captains, it was time for McBride to play like one.
In the past five games, McBride has evolved into the paradigm of what a captain should be. He's totaled seven points in that span, adjusted his role slightly to dedicate himself to defense, and has become one of the most well-rounded players in ECAC Hockey.
