After spending the past three weeks as the backup goalie, Mike McKenna got a chance to start for the Portland Pirates Sunday afternoon.

Filling in for Jean-Sebastien Aubin on short notice, McKenna, in his first full AHL season, turned in a solid performance to lead the Pirates to a 5-2 win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, before a crowd of 3,746 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Game 4 of the best-of-seven series will be played Tuesday night at the Civic Center, with the Pirates holding a 2-1 lead. Portland is 6-0 at home in the playoffs.
