Dietrich Joins EHC München

EHC München (Germany) announced Wednesday that it has agreed to terms with former St. Lawrence forward Brandon Dietrich.

The 30-year-old center spent last season with the Landshut Cannibals. The Waterloo, Ontario native led the Cannibals in scoring, racking up 27 goals and 26 assists in 50 contests.

"We had been in contact with him for weeks," said EHC manager Christian Winkler. "Yesterday everything went very quickly. In the late afternoon, I had a long conversation with him and we quickly agreed (to terms)."

Dietrich is enthusiastic about his return in the second Bundesliga.

"I am very pleased to join Munich, and have heard a lot of good things about the team and the club. That made my decision very easy," said Dietrich.

Dietrich skated for the Saints in 1998-99 and 1999-00, amassing 35 goals and 45 assists in 75 contests. He registered 20 goals as a freshman in 1998-99, and compiled 41 points as a sophomore.

After leaving St. Lawrence, Dietrich spent four years in both the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and American Hockey League (AHL), representing five teams. His most productive offensive campaign was 2001-02 with the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL when he scored 29 goals and added 45 assists in 66 games.
