Laperriere Continues Career with Arizona of CHL

The Arizona Sundogs Hockey Club, members of the Central Hockey League, today announced the return of defenseman Daniel Laperriere, who starred at St. Lawrence in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Laperriere, 37, will once again serve as player/assistant coach for the Sundogs and Head Coach/GM Marco Pietroniro. A draft pick of the St. Louis Blues in the fifth round (93rd overall) of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft with 48 NHL games under his belt, Laperriere finished fifth in scoring among CHL defensemen with 57 points in 60 games (11g/46a). The veteran blue liner added 13 points (4g/9a) in the 2007 CHL post-season helping lead his team to the second round of the playoffs before falling to New Mexico.

"I'm very pleased to have Dan on board for another campaign," said Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro. "Replacing a player with both the on and off-ice qualities that Dan encompasses would have been extremely difficult. His leadership and experience will pair well with our youth in 2007-08. The fact that he averaged nearly a point a game proves that he still can excel at the professional level."

With the additions of Laperriere, the Sundogs have now signed eight players for the 2007-08 season.
