When Alaska Aces goaltender Derek Gustafson struggled early last season and had the sorry statistics to prove it, he admitted both his confidence and his game were rattled.
Statistically, Gustafson is off to another slow start this season. But the odd thing this time around is that his confidence is strong and he feels he has generally played well.
His coach and teammates believe he is bolstering the team too as the Aces (14-8-2) open a three-game ECHL road series tonight against the West Division-leading Victoria Salmon Kings (17-7-0).
