Pirri a Star in AHL
Brandon Pirri, a former Rensselaer standout, has been named to the Western Conference roster and will represent the Rockford IceHogs at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic January 29-30 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Pirri has enjoyed a standout season in Rockford, racking up team-leading totals in goals (14) and points (32) in 31 contests. The Toronto, Ontario native also sports a +5 plus/minus rating.
Pirri has appeared in four contests with the IceHogs’ parent club, the Chicago Blackhawks. He has registered two assists and a +3 rating this year, and paced Chicago with four goals and five points in four games during the 2011 preseason.
Pirri made his NHL debut on October 9 in the Blackhawks’ 2010-11 home opener at the United Center. Chicago’s second selection (59th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Pirri ranked third on the IceHogs, and shared eighth among AHL rookies, with 31 assists and finished fourth on Rockford with 43 points in his first professional campaign.
In his one season at Rensselaer (2009-10), Pirri amassed 43 points, including 11 goals, in 39 contests.
