Engineers Still Confident

TROY — RPI hockey coach Seth Appert predictably expects contributions from his entire roster throughout the season, but he's a firm believer that it's the upperclassmen who have to show the way at crunch time of a schedule that stretches from October to March.

And so it has been in recent weeks since the once-welcome opponent has become a dreaded foe in ECAC Hockey with a 4-2-1 run since the first week of January. The Engineers, who have had a solid defense and stellar goaltending most of the season, now are showing signs of life on offense.

"What I like about our team right now is that in the past four weeks I think we've been able to put some of the disasters of the first half, some of the excuses and the feeling sorry for ourselves away," Appert said after a practice for this weekend's tough assignment against nationally ranked Cornell and Colgate.
