TROY — The 2010-11 hockey season must be viewed as a
memorable one for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute program,
even if the Engineers' final game of the season may have had few
memorable moments.
Rensselaer's 6-0 drubbing at the hands of top-ranked North Dakota
in the NCAA Tournament ended a campaign in which the Engineers
reached the national event for the first time in 16 years, won 20
games (20-13-5) for the first time since 2003-04 and saw Chase
Polacek win the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year award for the second
straight year.
Polacek again led the league in scoring and junior goaltender
Allen York was among the leaders nationally in goals against
average and saves percentage for most of the season. He finished
with a 2.17 GAA, 92.4 saves percentage and an 18-11-4
record.
