Score Not Indicative of RPI’s Effort in NCAA Tourney Loss
The following article appeared in the March 28 issue of the Troy Record.
TROY — Seth Appert arrived home Saturday night with this
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute hockey team, spent Sunday with his
family and then reflected on the Engineers' 6-0 drubbing by North
Dakota in the NCAA Tournament's Midwest Regional.
The five-year coach had led the Engineers to the program's first
NCAA appearance in 16 years. Rensselaer drew the nation's best
team, North Dakota but had hoped to at least make a good showing.
Breakdowns in the mental discipline —and several defensive
breakdowns — prevented that, however.
The game was close for one period and, in fact, the Engineers
outplayed the Fighting Sioux for a time in the first period.
