Polacek Earns National Accolade

The following article featuring Rensselaer forward Chase Polacek appeared January 24 on the Inside College Hockey (INCH) Web site.

Describing the INCH First Shift isn't easy. Sure, it's a recap of the highs and lows and quotes and notes from the recently completed weekend action, but it's much more. To us, the First Shift is college hockey's version of ABC's Wide World of Sports; you never know what you'll find—bullriding, ping pong, the Globetrotters.

Check out this week's First Shift, highlighted by Rensselaer's Chase Polacek, INCH's National Player of the Week.

CHASE POLACEK
Rensselaer
Sr. | F | Edina, Minn.

His Statistics: 2 GP, 3-1–4 in wins over Harvard and Dartmouth

His Impact: Polacek scored goals in a span of 1:37 Friday night to give RPI a 3-1 lead over Harvard and the Engineers went on to the victory despite being outshot 38-16 by the Crimson. He added a goal and an assist Saturday as Rensselaer completed a four-point weekend with a 5-1 win over Dartmouth.

Other INCH Players of the Week have posted gaudier numbers, but the timing of Polacek’s goals against Harvard was significant and the two-point performance against Dartmouth punctuated the weekend.
