RPI Embraces Banner Seasons

TROY -- The national championship banners strung from the Houston Field House rafters sometimes seem both burden and blessing.
As much as they conjure memories of bygone stars like Adam Oates leading RPI hockey to the 1985 national title, they also provide weighty expectations that -- quite literally -- hang over the program.
"I want that expectation of us," RPI coach Seth Appert said Tuesday as his team prepared for its NCAA Tournament game against North Dakota on Saturday.
