Blackhawks Summon Pirri
The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled former Rensselaer forward Brandon Pirri from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Pirri, 20, has appeared in one regular-season game with Chicago this year, collecting his first National Hockey League point, an assist, in 15:43 of ice time on Oct. 7 in Dallas. He also paced Chicago with four goals and five points in four games during the 2011 preseason. Originally selected by the Blackhawks in the second round (59th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Pirri ranks seventh in the AHL with a team-high 31 points and tenth in the league with a team-best 13 goals in 28 contests this season, and paces the IceHogs with a +6 plus/minus rating. The Toronto native has tallied 48 points (17G, 31A) over his last 41 AHL regular-season tilts dating back to last season.
The Blackhawks will host the Montreal Canadiens at the United Center on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
