Pothier Rewarded with Extension
The Geneva-Servette Hockey Club (Switzerland) announced the contract extension of former Rensselaer standout Brian Pothier. The new contract is for a period of two years, until the end of the 2013-14 season.
Pothier, who joined the Geneva-Servette Hockey Club in the summer of 2010, has quickly established himself as a leader in the locker room in Geneva, and served as assistant captain for the team. In 44 games in 2010-11, Pothier amassed 33 points, including eight goals.
"I am delighted with this new contract. We are a very good group and a great team,” said Pothier. “On a personal, my family and I love Geneva, this city, its environment. My children are happy in their school, and the decision has not been so hard to take. I'm really happy to be part of this team."

A native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Pothier split the 2009-10 between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He competed in 41 games with Washington, totaling four goals and seven assists (11 points) and registering a plus-12 plus/minus rating.
Pothier began his NHL career with Atlanta in 2000-01. He joined Ottawa in 2002-03, before becoming a member of Capitals in 2006-07. Overall, Pothier totaled 26 goals and 92 assists (118 points) in 362 career NHL games.
Pothier enjoyed a standout career at RPI from 1996-00. He played in 142 collegiate contests, scoring 17 times and setting up 57 goals.
