Kassel Welcomes Back Robitaille
The EC Kassel Huskies have announced that an old friend -- former Rensselaer standout Stéphane Robitaille -- is returning to Kassel, agreeing to terms for the 2011-12 season.
The 41-year-old Robitaille, a native of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, spent the past three years with the Bietigheim Steelers. He appeared in 148 games and registered 107 points, including 17 goals.
"Stéphane is a player with real leader qualities and an absolute professional,” "according to Daniel Lammel, sports adviser to the KEBG. “He is still incredibly fit and will give the defensive both stability and accents on the offensive. In addition, the young players, he will give them security.”
Robitaille spent six seasons in Kassel from 1998 through 2004. He appeared in 330 games during that span, compiling 151 points, including 53 goals. Overall, Robitaille has spent his entire 19-year professional campaign in Europe.
Robitaille enjoyed a standout four-year campaign with the Engineers. He appeared in 117 collegiate contests, scoring 17 goals and setting up 73 tallies. Robitaille’s most productive campaign was his junior season as he scored six goals and assisted on 26 goals in 32 games.
