Puppa Offers Expertise to Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, MI -- The Kalamazoo Wings proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders and American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers announce former NHL goaltender Daren Puppa, a former Rensselaer standout, will be a special goaltending consultant for the K-Wings from Saturday, March 12-Thursday, March 17.
The former 15-year pro, who played part of each of those seasons in the NHL, will also be working with the AAA West Michigan Hounds Wednesday, March 16 at Wings West.
"Puppa will bring confidence to the goaltending tandem." said Paul L. Pickard, president of Stadium Management Company. "We care about our goaltenders as they are often playing the position that is most overlooked."
Pickard also added that "Daren's experience will assist our goaltenders form as they prepare for this crucial stretch run."
Puppa will be talking about working with the K-Wings this Friday, March 11 during the K-Wings broadcast when Kalamazoo travels to the Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown, Pennsylvania for a 7:35 p.m. encounter this Friday, March 11 to battle the Wheeling Nailers.
