Tapper Returns as Everblades' Assistant Coach
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that former Rensselaer standout Brad Tapper will be returning as the team's assistant coach for the upcoming season.
Last season Tapper helped lead the Everblades to a 37-30-5 record in his first season as the assistant coach.
Prior to entering the coaching ranks last season, Tapper played professional hockey for nine years, beginning in 2000-01, and included three seasons in the National Hockey League with the Atlanta Thrashers from 2000-03.
"Brad was a big part of the team last season and real important piece of the puzzle to get back." Poss said. "I'm looking forward to working with him again and I really thought we made good strides as a group. Keeping the coaching staff together was important for us heading into this year."
During the course of his NHL career Tapper saw action in 71 total games registering 25 points. The former right-winger brings championship experience with him to the Everblades after winning titles with the Orlando Solar Bears of the International Hockey League in 2001 and with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League in 2002.
The Scarborough, Ontario native played his final five professional seasons in the German Elite League with Nuremberg, Hannover and Iserlohn from 2004-09 where he registered 165 points in 187 games.
