Brutlag Begins in Reading

READING, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with former Rensselaer defensemen Bryan Brutlag.

Last season, Brutlag, who played both defense and forward during his four-year collegiate career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, scored eight goals, assisted on eight others (16 points) and picked up 36 penalty minutes in 37 games for the Engineers. Brutlag, who served as an alternate captain for two seasons at RPI, twice led the team in scoring by a defenseman. In 151 total games with the Engineers, Brutlag registered 60 points (21g-39a) and 171 penalty minutes. 

Prior to attending RPI, Brutlag, who hails from Lakeville, Minnesota, received All-State honors during his high school career at the Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, Minnesota.
