TROY -- On paper, fifth-seeded RPI's opening-round playoff series against 12th-place Colgate looks like a mismatch. So did last year's first-round matchup against Brown, and RPI's seniors remember how that turned out.

The Engineers, who finished fifth in ECAC Hockey last season, were abruptly eliminated at home in three games by the low-ranking Bears.

"We kind of tiptoed into the water, kind of seeing what Brown would do," recalled senior captain John Kennedy. "We went behind the first game, and we were chasing tail the whole way. It's going to be imperative to come out in the first period of the first game and keep going from there."
