Appert Waiting for RPI's Best
TROY — Seth Appert wasn’t just trying to keep his
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute hockey players from getting big
heads, as the appeared to do earlier this season after winning
seven of eight games.
I don’t think he was, anyway.
Before leaving Thursday for Hamden, Conn. for tonight’s game
with Quinnipiac, Appert spent the first four days of the week
telling the media — everyone who came in with a notepad,
camera or tape recorder, that he loves the Engineers’
five-game winning streak — their first in ECAC Hockey in nine
years — and though he finds ranking polls at this time of the
season to be meaningless, the recognition of the RPI program nice
— he’s concerned that the Engineers have not played
their best hockey.
