Barons Reward Lord
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Barons signed former Rensselaer forward Andrew Lord to a contract for the 2011-12 season, Barons general manager Bill Scott announced.
Lord, a 6-3, 200-pounder from West Vancouver, BC, joined the Barons in late December last season on a PTO. He ended up spending the remainder of the season with the Barons. He appeared in 34 games, recording seven points (1-6-7) and servin 89 penalty minutes.
He began his pro career with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. Over two-plus seasons with Wheeling, he played In 165 games, recorded 104 points (42-62-104) and served 397 penalty minutes. Prior to turing pro, he skated in 134 games over four seasons at RPI, where he amassed 45 points (19-26-45). Lord played three seasons of junior hockey in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League with Brnaby and Vernon. In 174 games over those seasons, he recorded 104 points (38-66-104) and served 235 penalty minutes.
"We are proud to announce today that we have agreed to terms with Andrew Lord on a one year AHL contract," said Scott. "Andrew proved to us last season that he was a full time American Hockey League player after being called up from Wheeling of the ECHL. He brings a strong work ethic to the rink everyday and was one of our most active players in the community last season. Andrew is a tough, hard-nosed, energy forward who will continue to be a fan favorite in Oklahoma City."
