Healey Joins Black Wings of Linz

Former Rensselaer standout Eric Healey has signed with EHC Linz (Austria), the team announced Thursday.

"We expect a lot from him," said President Peter Freunschlag. "He was last season's leading scorer and we hope it gives our offensive even more."

Healey joins the Black Wings after spending the 2009-10 campaign with the Graz 99ers. The Hull, Massachusetts native led the 99ers in scoring with 67 points, including 27 goals, in 53 regular-season contests.

In 2008-09, Healey split time in Sweden with Mora IK and Switzerland with Langnau. He scored 15 goals and registered 22 assists in 33 games.

Prior to playing overseas this season, Healey played eight seasons in the American Hockey League, most recently for the Lake Erie Monsters. In 74 games with Lake Erie in 2007-08, the Hull, Mass. native scored 22 goals and assisted on 36 goals.

As a collegian, Healey played 143 games for the Engineers from 1994 through 1998. He scored 82 career goals and added 86 assists. He most productive offensive campaign was 1996-97 when he scored 30 goals and registered 26 assists.
