After he helped lead his national team to gold at the
International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships in
January, Jerry D'Amigo was dubbed an "American hero" by The Hockey
News and thousands of fans across the United States.
Though D'Amigo takes pride in everything he has accomplished, the
19-year-old winger from Johnson City isn't quite ready to accept
hero status.
"Just because I'm a good hockey player doesn't mean I'm some superstar," D'Amigo said. "I'm just a regular average Joe, but with a talent to play hockey."
