TROY — Back on Jan. 16, after a disappointing (to say the
least) 3-1 loss at rival Union, it was pointed out that eight of
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s upcoming 10 games were
against teams below the Engineers in the ECAC Hockey standings.
If they would win six of those games and steal a point or two in
the other two games – against Yale and St. Lawrence -- the
Engineers would be in good shape for a top four finish in ECACH
going into the final weekend of the season at Colgate – which
was ahead of RPI at the time but is now one point behind the
Engineers – and at Cornell.
Rensselaer did a fine job in the two games against teams ahead of
it, beating Yale and tying St. Lawrence. In those other six,
however, the Engineers are 3-2-1.
