Appert Demands Stronger Effort
The following article appeared in the October 18 issue of the Troy Record.
TROY — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute hockey coach Seth
Appert didn’t make a big deal of it, but he sent a message
throughout his team Saturday night. He benched three forwards for
the Engineers’ home opener against Bentley for their poor
play during Friday night’s 2-2 tie at Northeastern. Matter of
fact, Appert dressed only 11 forwards.
Junior winger Patrick Cullen, sophomore winger Greg Burgdoerfer
and freshman center Johnny Rogic were sent to the bench for
Saturday – Rogic actually did not see any ice time during the
third period at Northeastern.
The trio was replaced by freshman Matt Tinordi — who made
his RPI debut at left wing — and senior Scott Halpern, as
well as a seventh defenseman.
